County Planning Commission Listen To Residents

Wednesday 29 August 2007County-wide zoning again dominated discussion at this week’s meeting of the Cannon County Regional Planning Commission. The topic was raised as residents of the Burt community in the western portion of the county addressed the Commission concerning a proposed nine home subdivision in their neighborhood. The residents said that they were very troubled by the prospect of the subdivision and that they feared the impact of the subdivision would be negative and unwelcome.

Library To Hold Public Meeting

Sunday 29 July 2007What would you like your public library to offer? You are invited to a public meeting on Tuesday July 31 to share ideas and help develop a long-range plan for the library system. The meeting will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM in the basement meeting room of the Adams Memorial Library at 212 College Street. Betty Jo Jarvis Director of the Highland Rim Regional Library System (of which Cannon County is a part) will be the facilitator guiding a process used by many libraries to set goals for the next five years.

Flooding Again At Courthouse

Saturday 30 June 2007 For the second time in a week and the fourth time in two years heavy rains brought flooding to the Cannon County Courthouse. Employees in the basement portion of the building noticed water rushing into their offices as heavy thunderstorms pounded Woodbury at about 2:00 p.m. Water covered the floor but no equipment or furniture was damaged during Friday's incident. Flooding is not a new thing to the Courthouse as offices flooded last Tuesday and similar floods have happened two times prior to Tuesday's.

Cannon County’s United Way Drive Begins With Favorite Sons

Tuesday 19 August 2008Featured speaker for the evening will be Michael Burt. The former Championship Coach and leadership expert Micheal Burt will be teaming up with Channel 4’s Emmy Award Winning Journalist Aaron Solomon for a night of inspiration while advocating the cause of the United Way. The Small Towns and Big Dreams Tour will take place on Saturday August 30th at the Arts Center of Cannon County.

Woodbury And Pleasant Ridge Polling Place Will Change

Sunday 13 July 2008Cannon County Election Commission has announced a change of location for two precincts in the upcoming August election. The polling place for the Woodbury and Pleasant Ridge (Precincts 51 & 23) has changed. Voting for August 7 2008 will take place at the Senior Citizens Center’s new addition. The physical address is 609 Lehman Street. The Senior Citizens Center is on your right going East on Lehman Street from the Community Center. There will be large “VOTE HERE” signs to help voters located the polling place.
