Lions And Lionettes Start Tournament Trek Tonight In Cookeville
For the second time in a span of seven days and a third time within a month, the Cannon County Lionettes will meet the Central Magnet Lady Tigerettes of Murfreesboro as both teams begin the second day of postseason play in the District 8-AA tournament. The two teams split during the regular season with the Lionettes winning 49-34 while Central won the last game on their home court 59-47. The Lionettes finished in fifth with a 4-10 district record while Central is on an upswing surge winning their last two district games even though they finished last at 3-11. Both teams have only 10 wins this season. Tonight's game is a must win to advance and will start at 6:00
The Cannon County Lions will also play tonight as they enter the tournament the eighth seed having only won one district game and four games the entire season. The Lions will face York Institute. The Dragons swept the season series winning at home 64-50. The Lions made it a closer game in Woodbury January 31st losing by eight 66-58. York has lost two straight going into tonight's game. District 8-AA basketball tournament takes place at the Hooper Eblen Center on the Tennessee Tech Campus in Cookeville.
