Plans to add a substantial addition to Adams Memorial Library building has received a boost when it was learned that a state grant amounting to $100,000 was available, thanks to the efforts of state representative Stratton Bone.

This information was announced during a meeting in Secretary of State Riley Darnell’s office at the state capitol in Nashville. The grant will be made through County Executive Mike Gannon to the Dr. and Mrs. J. F. Adams Memorial Library Association for the express purpose to be used in the construction of an addition to the library building.

Attending the meeting in addition to state representative Stratton Bone and County Executive Gannon were: Stephanie Fuson, director of the library; Angie Ott, chairman of the county library board and member of the memorial association board; Charlie Harrell, chairman of Friends of the Library and member of the association board, Austin Jennings, chairman of the association board and Jim Beasley, state director of library services. A major fundraising drive will be launched as soon as architectural plans are completed and other preliminary work is done.

Construction of the approximately 10,000 square ft. addition is not expected to begin for another year of so, according to members of the board.
