High School Hoops Starts Tonight

Tuesday, 14 November 2017

The long wait for high school hoops is over tonight as the Cannon County High School basketball teams take the court in Woodbury for a set of games against their neighboring rival the Coffee County Lady Red Raiders and Red Raiders basketball teams.
The Lionettes return most of their key players.  Their leader is lone senior Maleah Scott who has already got some looks from some Division 2 and Division 3 colleges.  Her hard work ethic should not only lead the team but land her on a couple of all district teams after the season is over.  The Lionettes are still young but could be one of the most dangerous teams to play up against in the Middle Tennessee area.
The Cannon County Lions are under first year head coach Carlos Smith.  Coach Smith brings a wealth of experience in various coaching stops. He stepped in right at the first of the school year so he hasn't had a lot of time to get familiar with his basketball team.  The team returns Brandon Miles, Trey Fann and Austin Duggin.  Early success will weigh heavy on these three players to get things on the right track.  These two teams missed playing each other two years ago.  Last year Coffee County swept the two games in Manchester.  Tonight's game will be played at Robert A. Harris Gym in Woodbury.  Tip off is set for 6:00.  You can hear the action live on AM-1540/FM107.1 Shine WBRY and streaming live on our website at wbry.com
