County Planning Commission Reviews Year

Members of the Cannon County Regional Planning Commission have given final approval to their annual performance report. Members met Tuesday evening at the Cannon County Courthouse for their regular monthly meeting. The report, which is published annually at the end of each fiscal year, gives a detailed account of what the Commission has accomplished and what the group plans to accomplish next year.

This year, the group held 10 meetings. Boyd Barker, Dave Bunge and Carey Hutchins attended 8, Rebekah Parton attended 4, David George attended 6 but was just appointed in October, 2007, and Thad Rains attended 9. The group approved seven plats, revised their by-laws concerning corrections to the day and time the Commission meets, and held a joint meeting with the Cannon County Board of Commissioners concerning zoning.

Next year, the group plans to revise the major thoroughfare plan map and prepare a land use transportation policy plan. The group also plans to continue their in-depth study into county-wide zoning.

In other business, members tentatively set their annual training session. As of right now, the group will meet for training on August 25th in Cookeville.
