Several fire departments across the county were busy Tuesday. Members of Eastside Fire Department started the day early with a structure fire. The blaze was confined to a barn at the residence of Larry Hibdon at 475 Joe Blanton Road. The barn was a total loss. According to reports from department members, two horses were lost in the fire.
Dispatchers sent firefighters back to the scene in the early afternoon as embers flared up again. Short Mountain Fire Department assisted Eastside in the response.
Members of the Woodbury Fire Department answered dispatchers request to a grass fire on Stone River Road just off of Highway 53. Have adequate water to fire the blaze was not a problem. The fire was located just along Stones River. The area was quickly contained by firefighters.
