Extension of water lines, use permits, roadblocks and a new addition to the fire department’s fleet filled the agenda of the February meeting of the Mayor and Board of Alderman of the Town of Woodbury.
The board approved resolution number 1-10, this action begins the process to work with Cannon County for an additional extension of water lines. The area for this project would include; Lake Anne Road, Basham Ridge and Claude Gaither Road. A community block grant would be used to finance the project. Mayor Patrick stated that the possibility of acquiring the grand is good, however the window for the application process is very short.
Permits were granted for use of parks for April 3rd to members of the Woodbury Pentecostal Church for an Easter egg hunt and May 21st for the Relay for Life to assist the Cannon County chapter of the American Cancer Society.
A roadblock was approved for March 13th. Funds raised will assist LaShondra Dillard who will participate in the Susan G. Komen 3 Days for the Cure. The event raises funds for breast cancer awareness.
Chief Bill Johnson had the newest addition to the fire department fleet for the alderman to see. The purchase of the used vehicle was approved at an earlier meeting and will replace a truck currently out of commission. The chief reported that the vehicle came with many features and accessories that equaled the purchase price. The features will assist firefighters in their efforts on calls. The truck was placed into service last week and has already made four calls.
