Up to 15 new jobs will be created here in Cannon County after the Cannon County Industrial Board approved the deal between the County and THC Select of Waverly.

THC Select is a plastic injection molding company making food storage containers for hospitals across the country, as well as CNC precision components. Corbett Gibson, company management, represented THC Select during the Board meeting at the Cannon County Courthouse Thursday night.

According to Mike Gannon, County Executive. The agreement is in place for THC to move operations from Waverly to the Cumberland Molded building on Alexander Drive in Woodbury. THC Select is looking at approximately $140,000 in moving costs covering the move itself, wiring, manufacturer down time and outsourcing.

There is a gentleman's agreement to start procedures to make the move within a month or town. To compensate for the moving costs, the county will give THC Select a one year free lease, with the option to buy the building in five years for fair market price.

THC also has operations in Florida. Officials are strongly considering moving those operations to Woodbury between one and two years housing everything under one roof.

The lease is expected to be around $5,500 a month. Corbett Gibson, said they would bring approximately 4 employees over from Waverly and employ around 12 people in Cannon County at the facility.

Board member Buddy Davenport made the motion to approve the transaction and get things moving to the next step. Randall Reed seconded the motion, chairman Jackie Francis and Board member Greg Mitchell did not oppose the motion therefore giving approval to bring THC Select to Woodbury.

The next step before the move can begin is County Attorney Mike Corley will be meeting with the appointed attorney of THC Select to draw up the paperwork.
