Young New Sheriff, Prater Wins Trustee

4,300 people voted in the Cannon County General Election and state primary election. The results will give citizens a new sheriff, new trustee and some new faces on the county commission and the school board.

In the race for county mayor; Mike Gannon has 2,782, Rebekah Hindman Parton 922, George Pittman 401.

Elected to County Commission 1st District, Mark Barker 442, James Russell Reed 331.

Elected to County Commission 2nd District, Jimmy Mingle 354, Todd Hollandsworth 308.

Elected to County Commission 3rd District, Kevin Dale George 458, Jim Bush 343.

Elected to County Commission 4th District, Joe Wimberly 479, Clint Higgins 347.

Elected to County Commission 5th District, Bob Stoetzel 370, Kevin Mooneyham 314.

County Trustee will be Wayne Prater with 954 votes, second was Norma Knox with 913 and third was Brenda Mullinax with 643.

Darrell Young defeated Billy Nichols for sheriff by a vote of 2,123 to 1,436.

In the Circuit Court Clerk’s race, Lynn D. Foster won with 2,499 votes over Larry Sanders 1,346,

County Clerk Bobby Smith easily won another term with 2,028 votes to Matt Teply’s 1,066.

For Register of Deeds, Debbie Morris with 2,376 votes and Greg Mitchell with 1,618.

Road commissioners will be Jerry W. Pelham, Edward Doyle Duke and James Hancock.

School Board for the 2nd District, Christopher Blackburn, School Board 5th District, Michael Mayfield.

Constables will be Jim Gibbs, Tom Ganoe, Kevin Duncan, Forrest Pitcock and Adam Melton.
