County Planning Commission Listen To Residents

Wednesday 29 August 2007County-wide zoning again dominated discussion at this week’s meeting of the Cannon County Regional Planning Commission. The topic was raised as residents of the Burt community in the western portion of the county addressed the Commission concerning a proposed nine home subdivision in their neighborhood. The residents said that they were very troubled by the prospect of the subdivision and that they feared the impact of the subdivision would be negative and unwelcome. They asked members of the Commission to consider zoning to prevent projects like that from devastating the rural beauty of the county. They said that two negative impacts in particular would be a drain on water in the area and the worsening of road conditions. Planning Commission members told the group that nothing had been brought to them for official approval and that nothing could be done by them until it was presented. In other business before the commission: Commissioners gave final approval to the Cook subdivision.
