Love Lights A Tree This Sunday

The Cannon County Chapter of the American Cancer Society will hold the lighting ceremony for Love Lights A Tree this Sunday. Each year this fund raising event gives individuals the opportunity to make a donation in remembrance of someone who lost the battle of life to cancer. A donation can also be made in honor of someone who is fighting the battle or who have won their challenge with the disease. The tree lighting serves as an example of each light on the tree as a life honored in the drive.

Persons wishing to make a donation or donations should contact Lois Larimer or Korie Aycock at 563-2311. The lighting ceremony and reading of names will be Sunday afternoon at 4:00pm at the gazebo on the courthouse lawn. The ceremony will be broadcast live on 1540 WBRY. An encore airing can also be heard Monday morning at 8:05am.

In 2004, the American Cancer Society estimates 1,368,030 new cancer cases will be diagnosed in the United States, including 30,850 in Tennessee. 563,700 cancer deaths will occur in the United States, including 12,710 in Tennessee.
