Flooding Again At Courthouse

Saturday 30 June 2007 For the second time in a week and the fourth time in two years heavy rains brought flooding to the Cannon County Courthouse. Employees in the basement portion of the building noticed water rushing into their offices as heavy thunderstorms pounded Woodbury at about 2:00 p.m. Water covered the floor but no equipment or furniture was damaged during Friday's incident. Flooding is not a new thing to the Courthouse as offices flooded last Tuesday and similar floods have happened two times prior to Tuesday's. One flood caused several thousand dollars worth of damage to office equipment computers and furniture. The conditions causing the floods have not yet been repaired and it is not certain if rain expected this weekend will cause more flooding in the basement. County officials have not confirmed when those repairs will be made or if anyone plans to make them. Offices remained opened and work continued to be transacted during Friday's flood. It took staff about two hours to get everything dried off.
