Dorothy Lance Thomas, 86, died Tuesday, June 1st at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a resident of Bradyville and was a native of Warren County.

Survivors include; children, Treva Bailey of Woodbury, Randy Thomas, Susie Simpson of Bradyville, son-in-law, Roger Coleman of Mississippi, sister, Corrine Jones of Manchester, 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Dorothy Lance Thomas will be 2:00pm, Thursday, June 3 in the chapel of the Woodbury Funeral Home. Bro. Jason Mitchell will conduct the service. Burial will be in Center Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 1:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Walter Rusty Bryson

Walter Rusty Bryson, 85, died Friday, May 28th following an extended illness. He was a resident of Woodbury and native of Cannon County.

Survivors include; his wife of 61years, Louise Gilley Bryson of Woodbury, son, Joe Bryson of Woodbury, daughter, Rita Priest of New Market, 5 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, 3 great-grandchildren.

Bryson was a veteran having served in the Army.

Funeral services for Walter Rusty Bryson will be 2:00pm Monday, May 31st at Sycamore Baptist Church. Bro. Richard Williams will conduct the service. Bruial will be at Sycamore Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 30th from 3:00pm – 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Alice Phillips Pelham

Alice Phillips Pelham, 88, died Thursday, May 27th at Stones River Hospital. She was a resident of Woodbury and a native of Canon County.

She is survived by her sons, Jerry Pelham, Joe Pelham, Ronnie Pelham and Bill Pelham all of Woodbury; daughter, Faye Abercrombie of Murfreesboro; sister, Gladys Davis of Woodbury; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Alice Phillips Pelham will be 2:00 pm Sunday in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Bro. Leonard Herman will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Gaither Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 11:00am till 10:00pm.

Mildred Wood Jennings Ross

Mildred Wood Jennings Ross, 79, passed away Wed., May 26, 2010 at Blvd. Terrace Nursing Home. A native of Rutherford Co., She resided in Woodbury.

She is survived by her children, Harlan Wayne Jennings of Lebanon, Bettye J. Jennings Edgar of Franklin, Claude D. Jennings and Patricia Regina Ross Harvey both of Woodbury and Michael K. Ross of Cookeville. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services for Mildred Wood Jennings Ross will be 10:00am Friday, May 28th. Bro. Rick McFerrin will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 1 pm till 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Patricia Davenport Barrett

Patricia Davenport Barrett, 63, of Woodbury died May 15, 2010 at her home.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 48 years, John P. Barrett of Woodbury, daughter, Melissa & Barry Bogle of Woodbury; son, Joe Don Barrett of Bradyville; daughter, Mandy Barrett of Bradyville; brothers, Hoppy & Helen Davenport of Woodbury, Dwight & Carol Davenport of Murfreesboro; sister, Lynne & Med Foster of Woodbury; six grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild; one great grandchild and one step-great grandchild.

She was a Baptist and worked for the Woodbury Nursing Center for almost 30 years. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society. Contact Smith Funeral Home to make a donation.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010, 11 AM at the Fugitt Cemetery. Van Nichols will officiate. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Katherine Grimmett, 73, of Woodbury died May 15, 2010.

She is survived by sons, Chuck Grimmett of Lascassas, Sonny Grimmett of Christiana and Steve Grimmett of Morrison; daughter, Shandra Lorance of Woodbury; granddaughter, Melissa Grimmett of Woodbury; brother, Kenny Dodson of McMinnville; sisters, Faye Ventura of Ohio, Judy Scicolone of Murfreesboro, Nancy Scruggs of Palmer, Wendy Robinson of McMinnville and Shaune McKnight of McMinnville; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Nola Alexander Turney age 90, of Readyville, passed away on Saturday, May 15th at Middle Tennessee Medical Center. She was a native of Cannon County.

She was a teacher for 43 years.

Survivors include; her sister, Mildred Alexander Paschal and her sister-in-law, Helen West Alexander.

Idella Carver

Idella Carver, 83, died Friday May 14th following an extended illness. She was a resident of Bradyville and was a native of Rutherford County.

Survivors include; daughter, Mitzi Bush of Bradyville, 2 grandsons, 1 great-grandson, sisters, Virginia Smith of Murfreesboro and Donna Hoover of Murfreesboro, brother, Walter Hoover of Murfreesboro.

Candace Gayle Dodd

Candace Gayle Dodd, 29, died Thursday, May 13th. She was a resident of Woodbury and native of DeKalb County.

Survivors include; her mother, Connie Dodd Ashford of Woodbury, grandmothers, Loretta Dodd of Woodbury and Louise Goodwin of Liberty, brother, Cory Chapman and sister, Rachel Goodwin of Woodbury.

Funeral services for Candace Gayle Dodd will be Sunday, May 16th at 2:00pm in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Bro. Weldon Parkinson will conduct the service. Burial will be in Sycamore Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday, May 15th from 4”00pm – 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, family asks for donations to the funeral home for funeral expenses.

Ray Neal, Jr.

Ray Neal, Jr., 84, died Wednesday, May 12th. He was a resident of Smithville.

Survivors include; children, Richard A. Neal, Sr. of Lebanon, Karen Joyce Smith of Westmoreland, Thomas A. Neal of Carthage and David Lee Neal of Woodbury, brothers, Clayton Neal and Morris Neal, both of McMinnville, sister, Mary Young of Smithville, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Neal was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy.

Funeral services for Ray Neal, Jr. will be Friday at 10:00am at DeKalb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville. Bro. Royce Martin will conduct the service.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday, 11:00am - 9:00pm and Friday, 9:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
