Ambulance Purchase Put On Hold Till January Meeting

Two resolutions concerning first responders have been put on hold until the January meeting so that the Cannon County Commissioners can see what kind of finanical shape the County is in before proceeding.  For the last two months at the Cannon County Commission meetings, the Commission has put off the purchase of a new ambulance.  The bid on the ambulance, the County Ambulance Department seeks to obtain costs $116,000.  However, time may be running out as that quote is now over three months old.  The Commission decided to put it off another month, so a clearer picture can be explained as to the financing of the new ambulance.   Also at the Commission meeting this past Thursday Tim Bell of the Cannon County Rescue Squad reminded the Commissioners of the obligation they made by approving $75,000.00 to be spent on a rescue squad truck.  The original cost of the truck was  $120,000 of which $44,700 has been paid towards it from funds raised by fundraising, volunteers and grants.  The balance left is $75,300.00.  The Commissioners agreed to look at doing so possibly in January after they look at the financial situation of the County.
One Resolution did get passed and that was the approval of the submittal of the Community Development Block Grant project.
