Cannon County SAVE Gets Domestic Violence Shelter House For Christmas

The Cannon County SAVE Domestic Violence Program has received a gift during the Christmas season.  Director Lisa Baird announced that an anonymous benefactor recently got in touch with her and stated that he was buying a building that would serve as a home for a new domestic violence shelter.  The man stated that that his wife had just passed away from cancer and wanted to make the presentation in honor of his late wife.  The building has been purchased and the keys have been handed to Baird.  Operational costs such as electricity and water are being arranged.  There is a lot of items that the Shelter will need such as beds, book shelves, couches and chairs, kitchen items, refrigerators, washing machine and dryer and more.  Monetary donations are needed to help with shelter expenses during the first year until grants start coming in.  For more information including a list of the items needed for the new shelter call 464-5555.
