Last Session Of Cannon County Grand Jury In 2008

The last regularly scheduled meeting of the Cannon County Grand Jury for 2008 took place this week. Those persons indicted by the Grand Jury included: Johnny E. Whittemore for driving on a suspended license 2nd offense J.W. Bass Jr. for seatbelt law open container law registration law insurance law driving under the influence 3rd offense driving after being declared a habitual motor vehicle offender and violation of the implied consent law. Vincent Brock for felony evading arrest reckless endangerment and 2 counts of aggravated assault Bonnie M. Hobbs for theft over $1 000.00 and criminal trespassing Benjamin Sadler for failure to appear Shannon Michelle Underwood for two counts of driving under the influence 1st offense possession of a schedule two narcotic and violation of the implied consent law Bradley J. Gann for three counts of public intoxication Steven D. Davis for two counts of theft over $1 000.00 felony evading arrest driving under the influence and driving while license revoked. Lori Ann Manier for two counts of theft over $1 000.00 robbery and two counts of fraudulent use of a debit card. Rhonda F. Merced for driving under the influence and violation of the implied consent law Andrew S. Asbury for burglary of a motor vehicle Michael E. Brown for driving on a revoked license 5th offense and violation of the insurance law Hoyte Gann for driving while under the influence third offense Shannon M. Underwood for leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence Thomas Franklin Hoover for driving under the influence second offense Donald Reeder for felony possession of marijuana maintain a dwelling to keep use or sell marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia Nicholas Reeder for felony possession of marijuana maintain a dwelling to keep use or sell marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia Robert F. Odom for resisting arrest and possession of schedule two narcotics Barbara Heath for theft over $500.00 Beverly Bond for accessory after the fact Sarah B. Dune for two counts of theft over $500.00 Edward Johnson for possession of marijuana for resale manufacture of marijuana and maintain a dwelling to keep use or sell marijuana In addition to the indictments listed above the grand jury returned 16 sealed indictments. The names of those defendants will not be released until they are arrested. WBRY must stress that an indictment by the Grand Jury is not a finding of guilty it simply means that the Grand Jury found enough probable cause existed to set the case for trial. The next step for these defendants will be arraignment day on October 10th. At that hearing the defendants will be informed of their charges and appointed attorneys if they cannot afford them.
