Lionettes Beat Central Magnet Friday Night. Middle Grade Basketball Plays Monday

Coach Matthew Rigsby of the Cannon County Lions boys basketball team says his team comes out aggressive in the first quarter but many of their losses are contributed to not playing in the second quarter.  Friday night during their district 8-AA matchup showed exactly that.  The Lions trailed by two in the first quarter but then lost momentum as Central Magnet of Murfreesboro built a ten point lead going into the locker room.  Central built the lead in the third before being out scored 13-8 in the final period.  The Lions lost their sixth game in the district falling to Central Magnet 52-39.  Cannon’s overall record is 3-15. The Cannon County Lionettes love to play before the home crowd and until Friday night it had been over a month since their last home game.  Lionettes got out to a 13-9 end of first quarter lead and coasted to a 49-34 win behind the hot shooting of Taylor Meeks who scored 11 points and Maleah Scott who grabbed several Central turnovers and converting them to points.  Scott finished with 16 total points.  Cannon County’s next set of games will be in Livingston Tuesday night.
Robert A Harris Gym Monday night will be filled as the Middle Grades basketball team will play White County Middle School.  Both Cannon teams eighth graders will be recognized before the game.  Tip off is at 6:00
