More Cannon Countians Employed

More people in Cannon County are employed this month. The most recent county unemployment rate shows 6,850 Cannon Countians have jobs, with 530 more people working than the month before. Cannon County’s jobless rate is 7.7 percent, down seven tenths of a point from the month before.

The state’s overall jobless rate is seven percent. The United States unemployment rate for the month of October was 6.5 percent. County unemployment rates for October in Tennessee show 53 count rates decreased. The rate increased in 27 counties and remained the same in 15 counties.

Cannon County’s neighbors had mixed jobless reports. Rutherford County was down four-tenths of a point, to 6 percent. Wilson County’s jobless rate decreased two-tenths of a percent, to 5.6 percent and Coffee County’s rate was down one-tenth of a percent, to 6.5 percent.

Warren County registered the highest jobless rate among Cannon County’s neighbors, 8.9 percent. And Dekalb County’s rate is up four-tenths of a percent, to 7.4 percent.

Williamson County registered the state’s lowest county unemployment rate at 4.7 percent, down 0.3 percentage point from the September rate. Perry County had the state’s highest at 17.4 percent, up from 16.7 in September.

Knox County had the state’s lowest major metropolitan rate at 5.0 percent, down 0.3 percentage point from the September rate. Davidson County was 5.5 percent, down from 5.8 the previous month. Hamilton County was at 6.1 percent the same as the September rate, and Shelby County was 7.1 percent, down from the September rate of 7.4.
