Motion Filed To Revoke Durham’s Gun Permit

The State of Tennessee is trying to keep guns out of the hands of accused murderer Randy Durham. Assistant District Attorney David L. Puckett filed a motion with the Cannon County General Sessions Court this week requesting that Judge Susan Melton revoke the handgun permit of Durham pending a jury trial on the charges.

Durham was arrested and charged with second degree murder late last month by the Cannon County Sheriff’s Department after he allegedly shot Ronnie Baxter to death at a home on Hollow Springs Road following a dispute. After several days, Durham posted his $250,000.00 bond and was released from jail.

In his motion, Puckett cites a Tennessee statute that allows courts to revoke the handgun permit of a person charged with an offense involving violence until their trial is over. The motion is set for a hearing next month in General Sessions Court. A copy of the motion was served on Durham’s attorney, Guy Dotson, Sr, but no response has been filed.
