Monday 19 November 2007A man accused of spitting at Cannon County Sheriff’s deputies and then telling them he had hepatitis is in trouble again but this time he was not in a public place when he committed his crime. David Allen Bedwell age 29 allegedly attacked a Cannon County Jailor with his shoe while being housed at the jail. Deputies arrested Bedwell and charged him with assault on a correctional officer after he threw his shoe at the face of the correctional officer while he was trying to get him into his cell. Bedwell is awaiting a court appearance on numerous charges one of which alleges that he broke the back glass out of a Cannon County patrol car while officers were taking him into custody. Bedwell is also charged with spitting on deputies as they tried to arrest him and then telling them he had hepatitis. Bedwell is currently being held in lieu of $9 500.00 bond and will appear before General Sessions Judge Susan Melton on December 4th. The correctional officer was not harmed during the incident.
