No Wins Against Dekalb

The Dekalb County Lady Tigers are off to their best start in District 8-AA play in recent memory.  The Lady Tigers are 3-0 and are at the top of the early season district standings.  That third win came Friday night as a result of a 51-44 victory over Cannon County.  The Lionettes got out to the start they wanted leading 15-6 at the end of the first quarter however Dekalb wasn’t going to give up easily as they staged a comeback in the second and led by one at the end of the third.  Dekalb would stretch the lead out to seven late in the fourth quarter for the win.  Maleah Scott led all scorers for Cannon in the loss with 10 points.  Lionettes record puts them at 2-6 overall and 0-3 in District 8-AA play
While the Lionettes did not convert any three point field goals in their game, the Lions hit several but so did the Dekalb County Tigers.  Cannon kept it close until Dekalb distanced themselves with a 10 point lead in the second quarter.  Dekalb held off several Cannon comebacks including late in the game as the Lions missed free throws that could have brought them close to forcing overtime or outright winning. Cannon falls to 0-3 with a 54-50 loss to Dekalb.  Their overall record is now 1-7.  Trey Fann led all Lion scorers with 18.  Tuesday the Lions and Lionettes take a long road trip to Jamestown Tennessee for the last district game of the calendar year.  Game time is at 6:00.
