  • Elizabeth Clark

    Friday 8 February 2008Elizabeth Clark 75 died today February 8th. She was a resident of Readyville and a native of Connecticut. Survivors include her husband of over 50 years Donald Clark Sr.; sons Donald Clark Jr. of Readyville and Timothy Clark of Murfreesboro; daughters Donna Higginbotham and Lillian Penn both of Williamsport Sally Santiago of Florida; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Elizabeth Clark will be Monday February 11th at the Woodbury United Methodist Church. Donna Higginbotham will conduct the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday February 10th from 3:00pm-7:00pm at Smith Funeral Home. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

  • Savannah Rose Butcher

    Thursday 7 February 2008Savannah Rose Butcher 20 formerly of Cannon County died January 29th in Texas. She was a native of Manchester. Survivors include; her mother Luanne Rains of Texas and her father James T. Butcher of Illinois brothers Nicholas Butcher and Ricky Butcher of Woodbury; grandmother Nancy Van Dyck of Illinois. Funeral services for Savannah Rose Butcher will be in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home Saturday at 2:00pm. T. B. Gentry will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Cherry Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Saturday February 9th from Noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to assist the family with funeral expenses through Smith Funeral Home. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

  • Dwayne Johnson Junior

    Sunday 3 February 2008Dwayne Johnson Jr. 28 died Wednesday January 30th. He was a resident of Indianapolis Indiana. He was a former resident of Cannon County and graduated from Cannon County High School in 1998. Survivors include his wife Ginger Johnson; parents Dwayne Sr. & Donna Johnson of Woodbury; son Johnny Guffy III; daughter Kayla Childs; brother Jeremy Johnson; grandparents Ray & Lorraine Rigby. Graveside services for Dwayne Johnson Jr. will be Wednesday February 6 2008 at 12 Noon. T. B. Gentry will conduct the service. Burial will be in Riverside Garden. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

  • Martha L. Merriman

    Sunday 3 February 2008Martha L. Merriman 92 died Saturday February 2nd following an extended illness. She was a resident of Woodbury and is a native of Cannon County. Survivors include; children Wayne Merriman and Joe Merriman both of Woodbury Jimmy Merriman Linda Foster & Ann Prater all of Warren County 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild also survives. Funeral services for Martha L. Merriman will be held in the chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 2:00 pm Tuesday February 5th. Interment will follow in the Centerhill Cemetery.   • David George Bennett DVM

    Thursday 31 January 2008David George Bennett DVM 57 of Brush Creek died Wednesday January 30 2008 at his residence. Dr. Bennett is survived by his wife of 34 years Karen Bennett children: Melissa Ransom Bennett Schwerzler of Georgia Martha Bennett Given DVM of Nashville David George Bennett Jr. of Brush Creek mother June Bennett of Brush Creek sister Pam Bennett Throne California 4 grandchildren also survives. A Celebration of Life for Dr. Bennett will be held at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday February 1 2008 at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Brush Creek Cemetery. The Bennett family will receive friends at the Gordonsville Chapel on Thursday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Friday from 2:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm. New Middleton Masonic Lodge No. 249 will have Masonic service at the Gordonsville Chapel on Thursday night at 7:00 pm.

  • Henry Norman Blair

    Wednesday 30 January 2008Henry Norman Blair 91 of the Short Mountain has died. Survivors include sons Billy R. Blair of Murfreesboro and Nolan Douglas Blair of Woodbury 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons also survive. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army. Blair was a retired teacher principal and superintendent of Cannon County Schools. Funeral services for Henry Norman Blair will be 1:00 pm Saturday February 2nd at New Short Mountain Methodist Church. Brother David Dial and Brother Maurice Moore will conduct the service. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm Friday at the funeral home and Saturday from 12:00 Noon until time of service.
