Streets, Drainage and Honor Fill Board of Alderman Meeting Agenda

Special recognition, accepting streets and drainage issues were some of the items on the agenda of the Town of Woodbury Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting at city hall in Woodbury.Mayor Harold Patrick then gave special recognition of William Bryson as city attorney for 43 years of service. Bryson recently resigned as he was named Clerk and Master of Cannon County.
Alderman Dottie Duggin made a motion and Alderman Shade Cason seconded the motion to adopt ordinance number 434 on first reading. This is the ordinance amending the street acceptance and construction standard code for the Town Of Woodbury by adding Section 16-407 which is the procedure for street acceptance by the Public Works Director. The ordinance must pass a second reading in December.
Alderman Faye Knox made a motion and Alderman Joann Davis seconded the motion on the adoption of ordinance number 435 on first reading, which was an ordinance amending the street acceptance and construction standard code for the Town of Woodbury by changing section 16-406 which was the procedure for street acceptance as pertained to the Woodbury Planning Commission and Mayor and Board Of Woodbury. The ordinance must pass a second reading in December.
Mayor Patrick gave an update on the Greenbrier/Laurel Street drainage issue. A couple of months ago some residents of both streets came before the Mayor and Board, expressing their concerns about trash and debris left after a heavy rain. Mayor Patrick consulted an engineering firm, a representative of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and a representative of MAPPS told him that the state would be responsible for fixing the drainage problem. The cost is an estimated $30,000.
Cannon County High School Student and Vice President of the Middle Tennessee Chapter of HOSA Taylor Blanton approached the Board. HOSA is the Health Occupational Student Association and they need to raise funds for trips to the State Convention in Nashville and later for the National Convention in Anaheim California. They requested and were granted permission to hold a road block Saturday November 13th from 8A-12Noon. It was noted that the Saturday requested also coincided with the Veterans Day Parade.
Woodbury Mayor Harold Patrick received a draft copy of an audit report prepared by John Poole, an independent auditor for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010. Mayor Patrick reported that he was well pleased about the report.
Even though the audit was conducted independently, the auditor can report the information found to the state.
Woodbury Fire Chief Bill Johnston reported the construction to fix the front of the fire hall is about to start. Preston Brothers Construction submitted a bid under $5,000.00 to dig out, pour gravel and then concrete the front of the fire hall. The asphalt currently there now is in poor shape.
Aldermen, Joann Davis, Shade Cason, Faye Knox, Dottie Duggin, Charlie Harrell, and Mayor Harold Patrick were present at the meeting. Alderman Lois Larimer missed the meeting due to election poll duties.
Next meeting for the board is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7th.
