TVA Reduction to Fuel Cost Adjustment February 1st to Decrease Members’ Bills

MTEMC members will see their rates go down about one percent when they get their bills in February, as TVA has reduced its Fuel Cost Adjustment for the second time this year. “While the average impact to members’ bills will be about one percent or $1 less, amounts consumers save will depend on the amount of energy they use because the fuel cost adjustment is a per kilowatt-hour charge,” MTEMC Communications Coordinator Todd Palmer said. “This is the eighth decrease since the first of last year.”
The FCA decreased from the previous –0.832 cents per kilowatt-hour to -0.896 cents per kilowatt-hour.
TVA cites the primary reason for the FCA decline as a result of higher than planned hydro generation (reducing the need for more expensive resources).
In October, TVA changed the FCA from a quarterly to a monthly calculation.
