Two Vehicle Crash Involves School Bus In Bradyville

An early morning traffic crash Tuesday morning slowed traffic on Burt-Burgen Road and slowed down the schedule for several students.

Cannon County school bus number 04-06, driven by Redena Murdock was in the south bound lane of Burt-Burgen Road in the Bradyville area waiting to pickup students when a truck driven by Tony Brewer of Bradyville approached in the north bound lane. As the Brewer vehicle topped a hill and came in sight of the school bus, the driver attempted to stop. The vehicle began to slide and skidded 321 feet into the bus.

According to reports from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, one student was transported to Stones River Hospital where he was treated and released. Another student later was transported by private vehicle to Stones River Hospital. According to Trooper Bruce Pryor, no physical injuries were sustained at the scene.

Brewer was charged with reckless driving and no insurance.

Director of Schools, Barbara Parker said in a release, “thanks to a very alert and quick responding bus driver, no one was seriously injured.”

The afternoon bus route will continue on schedule.
