The United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties has announced its 2012 board officers and members. Pat Murphy, Plant Manager at General Mills, will chair the 2012 Board of Directors. Board chair-elect is Tracy Toy, retired R.N. and community volunteer; Campaign Chair is Phil Holt, First Tennessee Bank; Communications Chair is James Evans, Rutherford County Schools; Community Impact Chair is John McLaughlin, Bridgestone-Firestone USA; Finance Chair is Martha Tolbert, Middle Tennessee Medical Center; Policies and Nominations Chair is David Scott, Regions Bank; Past Board Chair is Andrew Oppmann, MTSU.
Pat Murphy has been the plant manager at the local General Mills operation for nearly seven years. He served as a volunteer with United Way throughout his twenty-four-year career in a variety of communities, including Texas, New York, and Minnesota. He is a past Chairman of the Board for the Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County. Pat and his wife, Pam, have two daughters: Kaitlin and Sarah.
“I am confident that Pat’s leadership and expertise will result in a remarkable year,” said Brian Hercules, President & CEO of the local United Way. “Our board officers and members will do an excellent job of advancing the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all in our community.”
