Ben Walter Batey, 81, of Morrison passed away Wednesday, December 04, 2019 at Woodbury Health and Rehab. He was born in Rutherford Co., TN.
He is survived by his wife 59 years, Glenda Russ Batey of Morrison; children, Glenn Batey of Morrison, Timothy Batey of Bainbridge, NY, Deborah Page of Afton, NY and Shannon Dewey of Morrison; grandchildren, Alexander (Megan) Batey of Murfreesboro, Jeramy (Tani Mara) Batey of Enid, OK, Tracey (Joshua) Williams of Oxford, NY., Shaina (John) Hinman of Windsor, NY., Kelly (Lee) Hicks of Bradyville, Naomi (Clint) Phillips of Bradyville; 13 Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Batey was preceded in death by his parents, James Taylor and Willie Smartt Batey and his siblings, Lillard, Dudley, George, J.T. Bobby, Thomas, Harry Batey, Marion Chinn, Mabel Blair and Pauline Rowland.
Ben was a member of the Barren Fork Baptist church and was a farmer. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Funeral Services will be 1 pm Saturday, December 7, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Dave Lawson and Bro. Leon Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in McMahan Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11 am until time of service Saturday. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avalon Hospice.
