The Cannon County Board Of Education is considering the re-zoning of thefollowing roads and lanes into the WestSide School district. West side of
Old Hwy 70 to the cemetery, Lonesome Dove, Genia’s Circle, Riverview, Jill
Lane, Mockingbird Lane, Hoover Mill, Ralexi Lane, Bush Haven, Hollis Creek
North, Dickens Hill to Frank Holt Road from Bradyville, Frank Holt Road
and Riverbend.
The hearing is set for this coming Thursday July 21 at the Board Of
Education boardroom from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Residents in these areas will
have the opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns. Prior to 1990
most of these roads were zoned for West Side but due to overcrowding
issues at West Side the zone was changed to incorporate these roads into
the Woodbury Grammar School zone. Now, in an effort to equalize school
zones, the Board is considering re-zoning these roads to the West Side
School zone. The final decision will be rendered at a meeting of the
Cannon County Board Of Education after the public hearing Thursday at 7:45
p.m. Students, who are currently enrolled in Woodbury Grammar, will have
the option of remaining at WGS. Please contact the Board of Education
Central Office to apply for a zone waiver. For information on students
entering Kindergarten for the first time, please contact the Central
Office at 301 West Main Street or call 615-563-5752 for information on
placement.
Those involved in Cannon County General Session Court today should not
expect court to go late into the evening as last week’s General Sessions
Court. Only 63 cases are scheduled for the docket today compared to last
Tuesday when over 100 cases were heard. General Sessions Court did not
end until after 10:30 last Tuesday evening. Last weeks court session was
thought to be the longest court session ever in the history of General
Session Court in Cannon County.
