The Cannon County Budget Committee met Tuesday night to go over therevised budget of the Cannon County School System. The Committee
requested that the schools revise their budget to deduct the requests of a
3 percent increase in raises. The revision only saved $23,634.55. Travel
budgeted requests were also questioned again. Under the category of
Regular Instruction the travel line item is $14,000. It was noted that
this is not just for one person but for 13 people including the Supervisor
of Instruction, 7 school librarians, 3 computer personnel and educational
assistants. State does not furnish mileage for required training and
possible overnight stays.
The Cannon County Budget Committee will meet Thursday to go over possible
ways to come up with more revenue and work toward making a budget
recommendation to the full commission July 16th
