Cannon Faces Dekalb In Rival Hoops Tonight

The Cannon County Lions and Lionettes ball teams hope their trip to nearby Dekalb County results in different outcomes than what their first two district contests did.  Tuesday night at Robert A Harris Gym, the Lady Owls of Smith County forced several turnovers took over in the first quarter and coasted to a 59-43 win.  Maleah Scott scored in double figures with 23 points for the Lionettes.  Cannon County Lions started out aggressive and built a 8 point lead in the first quarter.  Smith County used a trap at half court to force turnovers and converted to points to not only come back but keep the Lions winless in the district with a 84-67 win.  Trey Fann netted 20 in the game.  Tonight the Lions and Lionettes will travel to Smithville to meet rival Dekalb County.  Both Cannon County teams are needing a desperate win to keep themselves from digging a hole in the district standings right before the Christmas Break.  WBRY-AM-1540/FM107.1 will broadcast the game live tonight starting at 5:50 with the Coaches Corner.  The game will also be streamed live on wbry.com
