Anna Jo Francis Gooch

Anna Jo Francis Gooch, age 84, of Woodbury passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at her home.  She was a native of Rutherford Co.

Survivors include her daughter, Karla Judkins of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Levi Young, Buddy Young, & Amanda Young Myers; Great Grandchildren, Gage Raymond Hooper & Aden Karl Hooper: & Sisters, Lonnie Sue Knight of Texas & Mary Williams of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Kenneth Gooch; Parents, Fred & Tennie Travis Francis; Son, Kenny Gooch; Siblings, Burr Francis, Margaret Downey, & Evelyn Brite; & Great Granddaughter, Shea Makyla Hooper.

Ms. Gooch was a registered nurse for home healthcare and was a home delivery carrier for the Daily News Journal for many years.  She enjoyed her hummingbirds, gardening, sewing, painting, & taking care of others.

Funeral Services will be 1 PM Monday, September 16, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Earl Black officiating.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Woodbury Funeral Home.

Shirley Ann Baxter

Mrs. Shirley Ann Baxter, 50, of Murfreesboro passed away unexpectedly on September 11, 2019.  She was a native of Murfreesboro, TN born on August 7, 1969.  She was preceded in death by her father, Shirley Clayton Warrick.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ty Baxter of Murfreesboro; mother, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Lee Warrick of Murfreesboro; daughter, Tiffany (Dustin) Higginbotham of Lebanon; brothers, Johnny (Kim) Warrick, Clayton “Junior” (Leslie)  Warrick, Robert Warrick all of Murfreesboro, James (Tabitha) Warrick of Manchester; and grandchildren, Destin and Kinsley Higginbotham.

She was a graduate of Riverdale High School in the Class of 1987.  She met Ty while in school and married right after graduation.  She loved kids and worked for many years with Kids R Kids Daycare.  Her grandchildren were especially loved.  She and Destin were nearly inseparable.  She enjoyed waiting on him “hand and foot” and spoiling him with all kinds of things.  She and Mr. Ty were hard workers and led simple lives.  She had always dreamed of a family trip to Florida.  They had been blessed to go in the last couple of years to make a special memory together.  She enjoyed working with her hands crocheting and having a peaceful evening watching movies and tv with her family.   Through the years she had attended church at First Freewill Baptist and the House of Prayer and Praise.

Hazel Paulette St. John Scott

Hazel Paulette St. John Scott, 70, of Woodbury passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at St. Thomas Rutherford following an extended illness.  She was a native of Cannon Co.

She is survived by her children, Ricky D. Scott of Woodbury and Angela Scott of McMinnville; grandchildren, Kayla Scott, Wesley Scott, Ciara Scott and Bobby Joe Harrell; great grandchildren, Lillian Grace Mayhart, Braydon Scott, Clara Scott, Brooklyn Scott, Jillian Scott, Addison Scott, Jonathan R. Pewitt, Jr. and Zoe Faith Pewitt; siblings, Ann Mooneyham, Linda Reed and Terry (Raccine) St. John all of Woodbury and Faye Foster of Readyville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie Paul St. John and Beatrice Mathis St. John; brother, Joe Don St. John and daughter, Melissa Scott.
Hazel was a member of the Baptist church and was retired from Carrier Corp. She loved to sing, go to yard sales and auctions but most of all, Hazel loved her family and having family get togethers.

Jimmy Gayle Nichols

Jimmy Gayle Nichols, 71 , of Woodbury passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at his home. He was a native of Cannon Co.

He is survived by his children, Craig (Michelle) Nichols, Teresa (Anthony) Pirtle and Tracy Matthews all of Woodbury; grandchildren, Lindsay (Wesley) Alexander, Caleb Sissom, Madison Matthews, Hunter Matthews and Kelsie Nichols; Great Grandson, Avery Alexander; siblings, Margarita (Steve) Watts of Kittrell and Randy (Carolyn) of Murfreesboro. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Dorris Lehman “Slick” Nichols and Johnnie Bell Davenport Nichols and his wife Linda Sue Bogle Nichols.

Gayle was a member of the Baptist Church and was retired from General Electric.  He enjoyed fishing and coon hunting but most of all he loved being around his family and friends.

Daniel James Panak

Daniel James Panak, beloved husband, father, brother, son and a stranger to no one, passed from this life Thursday, August 29, 2019.

A native of Kinsman, OH, Dan was a graduate of Kent State University, as well as a UCF alumnus.

The owner of Stones River Payroll Company, Dan was a caring presence for his employees and clients. Most who knew him will remember his integrity, mischievous laugh, his kind small acts, his generosity, and his adventurous spirit. He enjoyed golf, raising chickens, top shelf bourbon, traveling, hiking, camping, and biking along the beach at Jekyll Island, GA.

His greatest joy was his children for whom he was a constant, encouraging father. He spent many years with his son as a little league baseball coach and then as a basketball coach with the Central Christian Warriors. For his daughter, Dan bought a pregnant goat, a donkey, and two horses who helped her win many ribbons.

Dan was a calm, steady anchor for his family during the storms of life and brought joy and hope whenever most needed. He will be missed by life partner, Elizabeth M. Sodergren, as well as children, Benjamin J. Panak and Sydney N. Panak. He is also survived by his mother, Jean Panak; brother, David Panak, both of Kinsman, OH; sister Denise Panak of Howland, OH and sister, Diane Venzera of Lee’s Summit, MO.

Cleo Sissom Burks

Cleo Sissom Burks,99, died Saturday, August 31, 2019 @ 3:25 AM at Woodbury Health & Rehab. He was a native of Cannon County, TN.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Russell and Wanda Burks of Bradyville, grandson and grand daughter-in-law: Terry and Chassity Burks of Bradyville, great grandson: J`Khari Burks of Bradyville, sister: Delia Sissom of Bradyville, nephews:  Leon Burks of McMinnville and Alan Sissom of Franklin, IN, nieces:  Lois Clements and Avelene Warren both of Hermitage.

She was preceded in death by her parents Tillman & Elizabeth Spry Sissom; her husband, Homer Burks and her brother, Leo Sissom.

Mrs. Burks was a member of the Hollow Springs Community Church and was retired from Colonial Corp.  Her passion was reading her bible and her favorite hobby was quilting.

Roger D. Robinson, 65, of Murfreesboro passed away at his home Thursday, Aug. 29, 2019.  He was a native of Coffee Co.

He is survived by his sons, Shannon (Cydney) Robinson of Woodbury and Chad Robinson of Bradyville; stepsons, Dewayne Haynes of Murfreesboro and Mikey (Michelle) Haynes of Readyville; siblings, Dorothy Stacey of Woodbury, Wayne Robinson of Murfreesboro, Sandra (Bob) Murphy of Manchester; grandson, Ethan Grizzle; step grandchildren, Chris (Dani) Haynes, Austin Haynes, Tatum and Everitt Haynes; great grandchildren, Paisley and Ainsleigh. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Vassar Robinson; his father, William Robinson; mother and stepfather, Lillian and Britt Crosslin; sister, Ruby Martin, nephews, Pruitt Stacey, Donald Stacey and Jeff Murphy and great niece, Candace Richardson.
Roger was a member of the Sink Creek Baptist church and the Cannon Co. Walking Horse Assoc. He was a hard-working farm manager and a long-time truck driver.  He enjoyed his horses, riding his Harley and working with his bulldozer and tractor.

Naomi Bynum Knox

Naomi Bynum Knox, age 88, of Murfreesboro passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Woodbury Health & Rehab. She was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include her husband of almost 70 years, Jack Knox of Murfreesboro; Children, Cheryl (David) Franklin of Bradyville & Forrest (Nichi) Knox of Mt. Juliet; Grandchildren, Jason (Shannon) Franklin, Rachel Franklin Kelly, Jared Franklin, Mark (Diana) Franklin, Camille Knox (Charlie Sanders), Alexandra Knox, Portia Knox, Robert David Knox, & Elijah Douglas Knox; Great Grandchildren, Jacob (Morgan) Franklin, Hailey Franklin, Michael & Joshua Kelly, Lucy, Isaiah, Samuel & Zelie Franklin.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Darrell Knox & David Knox; and parents, Arminda Douglas Bynum & Monroe Bynum; and Siblings, Willie Mae Duke, Earnest Holmes Bynum, J.D. Bynum, Grady Bynum, Ruth Reynolds, Bobby Bynum, Helen Campbell, & Cliffton Bynum.

Mrs. Knox was a member of the Rock Hill Church of Christ and was a Special Education school bus driver for Rutherford Co. schools for over 20 years. She was a wonderful cook & enjoyed tending to her garden.

Diane Gibson Parham

Diane “Hannah” Gibson Parham, 73, passed away Sat., August 17, 2019 at her home.  She was born in Crossville, TN to her parents, Otis Gibson and Ruby Mae Rector Gibson.

She is survived by husband of 56 years, James Terry “Stick” Parham of Bradyville; children, Teresa Ann Parham Jackson and her husband, Randy of Columbia, Terry Wade Parham and his wife, Sharon of Morrison; grandchildren, Tera (Shannon) Mohler, Amber (Josh) Phillips and Cole Jackson; great grandchildren,  Jessie Mohler, Paige Mohler and Lukas Phillips; siblings, Joyce (Ernie) Smith of Estill Springs, Anna (Steve) Bollinger of Crossville and Bronda (Mark) Woody of Crossville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Thomas Gibson, Hot Shot Gibson and Wilma McElhaney.
Diane and James grew up as childhood friends even before first grade and never went a day without each other.  A love like this is what we all strive for, in May they celebrated 56 years of marriage. Hannah, as she was affectionately called first by her grandchildren who couldn’t say Nana, enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping, gardening and even mowing.  She loved her family but watch out when her and her sisters got together.  She had a special bond with her church family at Crossroads Church of Christ and was a homemaker. Hannah and Stick were owners of the Midway Market from 1986 – 1996 and they both were very fond of their community in which they worked and lived.

Shelby Kaylin Jordan

Shelby Kaylin Jordan, age 26, of Christiana passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2019.  She was a native of Rutherford Co.

Survivors include her parents, Dennis & Rachel Sands Jordan of Christiana; Son, Jason Cash Jordan of Christiana; Siblings, Lauren (Ryan) Dalton & Ryan Jordan, both of Christiana; Grandparents, Dennis “Hank” & Ava Jordan of Christiana, Janet & Bill Lee of Pekin, IL, & Barbara Sands of Dickson; and Niece & Nephew, Emma & Ely Dalton.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mac Sands & Kate Ann Sands.

Shelby was a stand-out softball player.  She loved her son Cash more than anything in this world.
