Warren Reed, 85, of Readyville passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at Vanderbilt University Hospital.  He was a native of Cannon Co. 
He is survived by his children, Gary (Wanda) Reed of Readyville, Russell (Denise) Reed of Woodbury, Lisa (Greg) Rogers of Woodbury and Anita (Barry) Bush of Readyville; grandchildren, Wendy Stephens, Christy Warren, Daniel Reed, Cassie Cox, Casey & C.W. Reed, Wesley Rogers, Erin Emlen and Kelsey Bush and siblings,  Joe Reed of Readyville and Edna Crecelius of Nashville.  10 Great Grandchildren also survive
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam & Beatrice Henderson Reed; his wife, Ladye Ruth Reed and his granddaughter, Kimberly Bush
 
Mr. Reed was a member of the Curlee Church of Christ, a preacher and retired from Bridgestone where he was a machinist.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, woodworking.  He loved baseball and was a big Atlanta Braves fan. 
 
Funeral Services will be 11 am Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Charlie Bowman officiating.  Interment will follow in the Cateston Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from  4 pm to 8 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2019.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Curlee Church of Christ or the Cateston Cemetery.

Charles Danny Powell, age 66, of Morrison passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Vanderbilt.  He was a native of Cannon Co.  Danny was a member of the Pleasant View Church of Christ and was a hard-working, lifelong farmer.  His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. 
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Darlene Smith Powell of Morrison; Children, Heather (Andy) Baxter of Murfreesboro, Holly Powell of Morrison, & Ryan (Andrea) Powell of Christiana; Grandchildren, Hunter & Gracie Baxter, and Lexie, Keeley, & Isabella Powell; Siblings, Jeff Powell of Morrison & Annette Payne of Woodbury; Sister-in-law, Judy Powell of Morrison; and Brothers-in-law & Sisters-in-law, Yvonne & Ray Mahaffa, Deborah & Glen Davis, Freda & Joe Scott, Jennie Smith & Will, Dawn & John B. Pedigo, and Don (Phyllis) Smith.
 
Funeral Services will be 2 PM Sunday, February 17, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Williams.  Visitation with the family will be from 1 PM to 8 PM Saturday, February 16, 2019.  Burial will be Private in Powell Cemetery and held at a later date.

Mr. Jammie Eugene “Bubba” Parker, 44, of Readyville passed away on February 13, 2019.  He was born on June 19, 1974 in Woodbury, TN.  He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Gordon Robinson and Joseph Parker; grandmother, Mattie Pauline Parker; and a sister, Sharon Anet Parker. 
He is survived by his parents, Eugene and Donna Parker of Readyville; sisters, Malinda Johnson of Panama City, FL and Jennifer Jones of Murfreesboro; sons, Harley Parker of Bradyville, Stephen McKnight of Murfreesboro, and Taylor Thompson of Woodbury; grandmother, Annie “Nannie” Robinson of Readyville; granddaughter, Kensleigh “Baby Girl” Parker; niece Samantha Stacey of Panama City, FL; nephews, Brandon Stacey, Panama City, FL, Hunter Lloyd, Harley Lloyd, and Brantley Jones all of Murfreesboro; great nieces, Annaleigha Stacey and Amellia Manglay both of Panama City, FL; and has another grandchild on the way.
 
Jammie was a free spirit, who had a good sense of humor, and a character who loved to have a good time.  He loved to joke and make up nicknames for his family and friends.  He was very close with his little sister, Jennifer, he would call her “Jenny Lynn Lynn” or something similar.  He was a hard-working block mason who could lay two blocks while other people laid one.  He enjoyed many types of music including classic rock, alternative, oldies, and blue grass.  He was good at working with his hands.  In his free time, he liked to work with wood and built family and friends things like cabinets, shelves, and nightstands.  He also liked going fishing and shooting pool.  He was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church.

Shirley Darlene Vassar Robinson, 59, passed away Sun., Feb. 9, 2019 at Alive hospice.  A native of Cannon Co., she lived in Murfreesboro.  
She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Roger Robinson of Murfreesboro; mother, Martha Lee Duggin Ferrell of Murfreesboro; sons, Dewayne Haynes of Murfreesboro and Mikey (Michelle) Haynes of Readyville; step-sons, Shannon (Cydney) Robinson of Woodbury and Chad Robinson of Bradyville; siblings,  Randy (Margaret) Vassar of Bradyville, Donald (Shelia) Vassar of Walterhill, Jennier (Mike) Deerman of Smyrna, Bruce (Darla) Vassar of McMinnville, Andy (Keely) Vassar of Kitrell; grandchildren, Chris (Dani) Haynes, Austin Haynes, Tatum & Everitt Haynes; step grandson, Ethan Grizzle; step great grandchildren, Ansleigh and Paisley.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her father, William Vassar and her brother, Anthony Vassar.
 
Shirley was a member of the Sink Creek Baptist Church and the Cannon Co. Walking Horse Assoc.  She loved horses, camping and anything outdoors.  She worked at Nissan.
 
Funeral Services will be 11 am Wed., February 13, 2019 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with interment to follow in the Jernigan cemetery.  Pallbearers include Chris and Austin Haynes, W.C., Donnie, Jeremy, Ben and Will Vassar. Mr. James Houston “Jim” “Dog” Barrett, 72, of Woodbury passed away at his home on February 9, 2019.  He was born on August 8, 1946 to the late Claude Barrett and Virginia Dillon Barrett. 
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Barrett; son, James Brent Barrett of Woodbury; step-daughter, Nicole (Chris) Arnold of Wartrace; grandchildren, James Nicholas Barrett of Morrison, Herschel Zachery Barrett of Murfreesboro, and Cody Dueterman of Woodbury; step-grandchildren, Elijah Arnold and Meredith Arnold of Wartrace; special cousin, Dr. Bill (Kay) Jennings of Woodbury, several other cousins and friends.
 
He graduated Woodbury Central High School in the Class of 1964.  He later graduated from Lear-Sieglar Institute with a degree in computer programing.  Then he worked for the State of Tennessee as a programmer in the Finance Administration Dept.  He continued his education at U. T. Nashville and Nashville State Tech.  After earning additional degrees, he continued his programing career with Exxon and Phillips 66.
 
In 1982, he returned to Tennessee and worked at Motlow College in Tullahoma and later moved to Atlanta, GA working with Data Resource Corporation.  Later he became a real estate investor and worked for Pedigo Management, Inc.  He began building FHA houses and took an interest in home town politics.  He was elected to the Woodbury Board of Alderman and served as Mayor of Woodbury and as Judicial Commissioner for a time.
 
Through the years friends affectionately nicknamed him “Dog” while others knew him as “Jim”.  Always looking for new adventures and enjoying life, he purchased a sailboat and lived on it for about a year in Destin, Florida.  He had a life long love of the water.  He and his family would travel to Florida every year.  He enjoyed water skiing, fishing, and boating.  It was all the more fun when his family and friends could join him.  Fun loving and friendly he enjoyed good natured teasing of family and friends while wearing a smile, anything for a laugh.  
 
He and his wife, Virginia, were approaching 23 years of marriage.  They enjoyed long walks and traveling.  In his spare time, he liked to do yard work, remodel rent houses, and keep his trucks spotless.  He and several friends were also involved with Civil War re-enactments.  He was a member of Woodbury First Baptist Church.

Ms. Judy Smitty, 61, of Woodbury passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2019. She was born in Smyrna, TN on March 14, 1957. 
She was preceded in death by her parents Ben David Smitty and Rachel Hall Smitty.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Christina Martinez, Jessica (Dustin) Taylor, and Catherine (Kayce Teters); brother, David Smitty; and four grandchildren, Dillon, Allison, Benjamin, and Lilly.
 
She had a loving spirit. She loved her daughters and grandchildren dearly. That spirit also carried over to animals, especially her dogs. She and the grandkids loved playing with them when they spent time together. She often took her grandkids to her favorite store the Dollar Tree. She would get them any kind or toys or candy they wanted. Gardening was something that came naturally to her. Her green thumb allowed her to take flowers that looked dead and bring them back to full beauty. One of her favorite flowers was a lily. During earlier years her loving spirit drew her into working as a certified nursing assistant and home aide.
 
She was a member of the New Hope Church of Christ and enjoyed hearing lessons from Bro. Ralph Richardson when she was there.
 
Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Monday, February 11, 2019 from 2-7 pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 2 pm in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Bro. Ralph Richardson will officiate. Interment will be in Amity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations are requested to assist with funeral expenses.

Mr. Donald Ray Stacey, 56, of Woodbury passed away on February 7, 2019.  He was born in Woodbury, TN on July 19, 1962.  He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Pruitt Stacey, Sr., a brother, Elmer Pruitt Stacey, Jr., and a special niece, Candace Richardson. 
He is survived by his son, Anthony Ray (Vanessa) Stacey of Chapel Hill; mother, Dorothy (Robinson) Stacey of Woodbury; brother, Buddy Stacey of Bell Buckle; sisters, Carolyn (Stacey) Jernigan of Murfreesboro, Linda & Steve Duke of Woodbury, Diane Foster of Shelbyville, and Cathey (Stacey) & Ricky Stahl of Goodlettsville; by two grandchildren, Wyatt Stacey and Coley; and by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
 
Mr. Stacey grew up working on a farm and milking cows.  He later worked in maintenance for the 76 Truck Stop and Home Run Market on Hwy 109.  He always had a love for sports.  He enjoyed playing soft ball with friends.  He liked to be outdoors, camping, and fishing.  Many times, he would also buy, sell, and trade different things for fun and to pick up extra money.  He liked to joke and tell stories with family and friends.

Franklin Dee Bogle, age 82, of Woodbury, TN passed away on February 6, 2019 at Vanderbilt Palliative Care Unit.  Frank died as a result of a fall at his home on December 30 that led to a month of severe complications that he no longer had the strength to fight. 
 
Franklin married Georgia Reed, the love of his life, in 1961, who survives him today.  Franklin is survived by his step-daughter, Ceola Sowder (Bill); granddog, “Griffy”; two grandsons, Matthew West and Mason Sowder (Morgan); two step-grandchildren, Jesse Sowder and Ryan Sowder (April); step great grandchildren, Elijah and Patrick of Murfreesboro; his sister, Lucy Cooper and his nieces Connie (Mark) Smith and Dawn (Douglas) Adcock all of Murfreesboro; great nephew, Michael Smith and a host of cousins and other family members.
 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lebron and Cathelean Harris Bogle.
 
 
All of his friends called him ‘Frank’. He was a man who loved and served his community in Woodbury. Everyone that knew Frank has listened to countless stories about the people in his life.  He loved his family and he loved the kids on his school bus routes.  Frank was involved in transportation all of his life.  He served in the Army in Germany   in the US Army Transportation Corps.  He retired from Samsonite where he worked in Shipping/Receiving and was also a semi-truck driver after 37 years.  He was the Woodbury Fire Chief for 9 years. He was also a Deputy Sheriff for Cannon County. He was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ where he drove the church bus on Sundays.  After retiring, he worked at the Stones River Hospital, in the summer he mowed yards for neighbors and his final job was driving the school bus for 14 years before his health began to fail.
 
 
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Herb Alsup officiating.  Burial will follow at the Reed Cemetery.  Visitiation with the family will be from 4 pm until 8 pm Friday, February 8, 2019.

Betty Sue Elder Jennings, age 84, of Woodbury passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro.  She was a native of Coffee Co. 
Survivors include her children, Pennie Lee Jennings Long of Woodbury, Jerrie Sue Jennings (Jeffrey) Macintire of Clarksville, Sandra Jennings (J.R.) Morton of Murfreesboro, & Grady David Jennings of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Nathan Jennings, Shannon Morton Patterson, Scott (Abby) Macintire, Beth Macintire, & Amy Macintire; Great Grandchildren, Marcus, Leo, & Zane Macintire, & Presley Patterson.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Thomas & Nell Lee DeBerry Elder; Husband, Grady Houston Jennings, Jr. & Siblings, Wilma Elder, Edward Elder, Thomas Elder, & Earl Elder.
 
Sue was a member of the church of Christ and was retired from the United States Postal Service.  If you knew Sue, you knew she loved to play Rook.  And most Saturday nights, you would find her with the Cannon County Rook Club, where she was a founding member.

Edward Clay England age 84 passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Life Care Center of SpartaMr. England was born in Sparta, TN July 6, 1934 to Alpha England and Della Rice England.
 
 
Mr. England served our country in the United States Army 1960 till 1964. After his service he enjoyed farming, church and family.
 
 
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Douglas Carl England.
 
 
He is survived by his wife Joyce Hall Melton England; son and wife, Karl and Cindy England; brother, Alpha Eugene England and wife Arleen; grandson, Joshua England; stepsons, Gentry Melton and wife Zarita, and Keith Melton and wife Rachel; step grandsons, Preston Melton and Kelby Melton; step granddaughter, Olivia Drennan.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 4, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at Thurman Funeral Home.
 
 
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home. Officiating will be Bro. Steve Gerhart and Alpha Eugene England. Interment will follow at Black Oak Cemetery.
