County unemployment rates for March 2016, released last week, show the rates decreased in 92 counties, increased in one, and remained the same in two counties.
Cannon County’s unemployment rate for March was 4 percent down three tenths of a percentage point from the February 4.3 percent. Out of an estimated work force of 6030 people 5790 people were employed while 240 people were unemployed. All surrounding counties showed a decrease in unemployment too. Coffee County and Warren County were both at four percent, Dekalb at five percent, Rutherford had the lowest unemployment rate of all surrounding counties at 3.1 percent while Wilson’s was at 3.4 percent. Tennessee’s preliminary unemployment rate for March was 4.5 percent, down four tenths of a percentage point from the previous month’s revised rate. The U.S. preliminary rate for March was 5.0 percent, up one tenth of a percentage point from the previous month.
