Department Of Revenue Surpasses 12-Billion-Dollars In Online Filings

Tennessee taxpayers are taking advantage of the convenience and ease of online tax filing. The Department of Revenue recently surpassed 12-billion-dollars in online collections. Commissioner Reagan Farr says online filing allows the department’s processing division to operate more efficiently. This year they’ve processed 173-thousand more returns with ten fewer employees. Taxpayers can file 15 different forms online. Nearly 41-percent of sales tax returns are filed online, according to Revenue officials. Ninety-five-percent are posted within two days.
