Emma And William Rank As Tennessee’s Most Popular Baby Names

Emma and William reign as Tennessee’s most popular baby names, according to the state Department of Health. The list of most popular baby names of 2007 is a mix of traditional and more contemporary choices. Other girl names on the list include Madison, Addison, Abigail, Emily, Ava, Chloe, Olivia, Isabella and Elizabeth. Popular boy names include Jacob, James, Elijah, Joshua, Ethan, Jackson, Christopher, Noah and Jayden. Traditional choices Michael and John dropped off of this year’s boy list, while Anna and Hannah didn’t make the cut for the girls. The number of births is also on the rise in Tennessee. In 2007, which is the last year of available data, 86-thousand-661 babies were born in the state. That’s a one-point-four-percent increase over the 2006 number. Just over 57-percent of babies were born to wedded parents.
