The Cannon County Lionettes are back on top of the district standings. Friday night the Livingston Lady Wildcats pulled into Woodbury with their sights set on keeping the top spot of the district all to themselves. The Lionettes grabbed a 6-0 lead to start the game and after two ties early in the first quarter, Cannon was able to gain a small cushion lead and go into halftime leading 31-25. The Lionettes kept up the pressure in the second half causing six Livingston turnovers in the fourth quarter. The Lionettes were able to convert those into points pulling away and winning 59-47. Abbey Sissom led the scoring for the Lionettes with 25 points while Abby Jakes added 13. Cannon moves to 21-3 with a 7-2 first place district record. The Cannon County Lions fell behind early in the boys game but were able to stay within striking distance throughout the game in the first half. Cannon would struggle in the second half as Livingston would go on to win 64-50. Cory Henley led the Lions with 23 points. With the loss Cannon still remains in 4th place in the district at 5-4 and their record falls one game below 500 at 11-12. Next up is the trip to Baxter Tuesday night to visit Upperman High School.
