Lionettes Rebound From Loss Against Dekalb By Beating York

The Cannon County Lionettes answered the bell Tuesday night when they beat visiting District 8-AA opponents York Institute, one game after the huge 30 point loss to Dekalb.  When the game got started it looked like the Lionettes would fold to the team from Jamestown as York opened up a 12 point lead into the second quarter.  Cannon would come back and grab a one point lead before halftime.  Lionettes came out and took control early in the second half building the lead to 12 and winning 74-62.  Four players scored in double figures led by Maleah Scott’s 23 points.  Kristen Fann netted 14 and Tori Knox and Anna Grace Sissom scored 12 points each as Cannon earned their first district win of the season and are 3-6 overall. The Lions played another gutsy type game with York with the lead changing ten times between the two teams.  The key point in the game came with over five minutes left as Brandon Miles was injured after a rebound.  Cannon still traded scores with York all the way to the end.  With the score 44-42 and seconds left, a missed three point shot would have won the game for the Lions at the buzzer.  Instead Cannon came away with another close loss.  Wade Love led with 14 points for the Lions.  Lions are now 2-7 overall and 1-3 in District 8-AA play.
Next up Friday night at Robert A Harris Gymnasium against former District 8-AA member Central Magnet High School from Murfreesboro. Tip off is at 6:00
