The Cannon County Lions and Lionettes teams renew their basketball District 8-AA rivalry with Dekalb County tonight in Smithville. The rivalry which has been downplayed in recent years may heat up tonight as the Lionettes who own a huge consecutive win streak in the matchups against Dekalb are struggling and will be without their leading scorer Kelli Davis in the contest. Dekalb on the other end has put together a impressive 18-7 overall record including a 10 game winning streak. The Lady Tigers are 2-4 in District play and they are coming off a two point win against Central Magnet School.
The Lions and Tigers is shaping up to be another classic in the chapter of two schools who come to play no matter what their record is. Both teams will be looking to win their first district game of the season. Both enter the contest 0-6 in 8-AA.
