Meeting Thursday Night…Veterans Grand Marshalls Announced

American Legion Post 279 is honored to announce the Grand Marshal and the Military Services Vice Marshals for the 2013 Veterans Day Parade.
This year we have several Veterans in the Woodbury Nursing Home. This year our
Grand Marshal is a husband and wife team – Bobby and Amy Ferrell.
The Army Vice Marshals are:  James Leo Barrett, John C. Mills, and Nolan C. Warren;  
Navy Vice Marshals are: Robert (Bob) Stoetzel and James Richard Harrison;  our Marine Vice Marshal is Charles L. Davenport;
The Air Force Vice Marshals are: Charles Arthur Smithson and James Howard (Buddy) Spradley; our Coast Guard Vice Marshal is Alvin R. Wade;
Concerned Citizen Marshal is a husband and wife team, Roger and Rachel Parker; and the  POW/MIA Marshal is Louis M. Hillis.  |
*There are no more World War I Veterans living.  The average age of the WWII Veterans is 92, the average age of the Korean Veterans is 84, and
the
 *Our Active Military Forces (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard) is 1.5 million total.  The number of Veterans in the
United States today is 23 million.  That is 16 times our Active Military Forces. There will be a meeting of the Veterans and Concerned  Citizens for the Veterans of Cannon County, on Thursday, October 21, 2013, at 6:00PM, at the Senior Citizens Center in Woodbury.  We will be finalizing plans for the Veterans Day Program at Cannon County  High School on Friday November 8, 2013 at 8:30AM; and our Veterans  Day Parade to honor the Veterans of Cannon County on Saturday
 November 9, 2013, at 1:00PM
