Hearing booms on New Year’s Eve is not unusual. However, many persons in Cannon County reported experiencing a boom on Saturday night.
According to Cannon County Sheriff Darrell Young, dispatch took several calls from residents saying a rumbling boom shook foundations and rattled windows. No injuries or damage was reported.
Residents in Coffee and DeKalb Counties also reported the rumble.
No valid reason for the mystery boom has been discovered.
