Wednesday 23 January 2008The goal for this year’s United Way of Rutherford and Cannon County fund drive is $2.6 Million Dollars. The campaign is in its the final days. To help insure the goal is achieved board member Andrew Oppmann has proposed a new club for donors. The Over The Top Club is for anyone who contributes $100.00 or an additional $100.00 to their current contribution. Oppmann’s day job is publisher of Murfreesboro’s Daily News Journal. The paper will make space available everyday until the end of the month to list members of the Over The Top Club. Anyone who gives at least $100 will be recognized on the list. The list will be divided into three categories: Businesses; Individuals and Families; Civic Clubs Schools and Organizations. This year’s goal is the largest in the history of the local organization. Thirty organizations and agencies provide services in Cannon County that receive assistance from United Way. Four groups are exclusive to Cannon County; Cannon County 4-H Clubs Cannon County REACH Program Cannon County Senior Citizens Center and Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency’s Nutrition Program for the Elderly. www.uwrutherford.org
