Owners Of “Eyesores” Around The Square Face Potential Fines

Owners of buildings considered to be an eyesore around the town square inWoodbury will be getting notices to get their building compliant to city
ordinances or risk being fined due to actions granted by the town of
Woodbury Aldermen. Notices will be sent over the next couple of days to
the owner of the former City Hall Building, Terry Haynes Plumbing, and to
the bank that is in charge of the foreclosure of the building that housed
an apartment and former video store on the square. It was decided to have
Mr. Brent Rowland inspect the former City Hall building as there are two
exterior walls which are thought to be in poor shape to the point to where
they could collapse. There is a possibility that the building could be
classified as condemned.
In other actions of the Mayor and Board Of Aldermen. They approved the
adoption of ordinance number 440 which is an ordinance amending the
original budget ordinance of the Town of Woodbury for the fiscal year
2010-2011
The Aldermen gave permission for Ms. Anna Pittman to place Vinyl Panels
for safety in the space that housed JP Fine Swine BBQ before. Chain link
fences will also be placed around the building space with no trespassing
signs .
The item on the agenda concerning the possible adoption of a resolution
that would allow the town of Woodbury to move the fire hall to the old
Jennings Motors building has been tabled. Bids on two other buildings
that could possible house the fire hall were recieved in the past couple
of weeks. The Mayor would like to open the bid process for any other
possible sites for the fire hall.
Mayor Harold Patrick advised the Aldermen that he appointed Vicky Smith to
fill the unexpired term of Larry Richards on the Woodbury Housing
Authority. Mr. Richards resigned due to health reasons as his term
expired March of 2013
The Final Numbers are in from the Cannon Communities 4th of July
Celebration that took place last Friday here in Woodbury at Dillon Park
Estimated Number of Visitors at the park and around town for the event
totaled 1600 plus. 800 Hot Dogs were given out in an hour and 20 minutes,
720 bottles of water and 310 soft drinks were also given out. 270 pounds
of non perishable food items were collected for the Cannon County Food
Bank and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation raised $929.00 as they
sold snow cones at the event. The event ran from 5:00 to 9:30 in the
evening with the fireworks presentation lasting about 30 minutes.
The next meeting of the Woodbury Mayor and Board of Aldermen is scheduled
to be Tuesday August 2nd
