More than 70 police checkpoints are scheduled statewide throughout the long holiday Memorial Day weekend to reduce fatalities and serious injury crashes in the state. Drivers can expect to see the plenty of State Troopers on the road, enforcing seat belt laws and looking for aggressive and impaired drivers. The 2011 Memorial Day holiday period begins at 6 tonight and will end at 11:59p.m. Monday May 30thThe Woodbury Police Department and the Cannon County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting safety and sobriety checkpoints today. Checkpoints will be held on Highway 70 and Highway 53 in Woodbury and Cannon County. In addition the Tennessee Highway Patrol will conducting a drivers license check on St Rt 146 also on today.
