School Board Begins Search For New Director of Schools

The Cannon County School Board resumed the April 9th meeting after previously being recessed. Dr. Ed Diden submitted his official letter of resignation. Diden has accepted the contract with Morgan County and will stay on board as director of schools for the next 60 days.

The board then reviewed the posting for the position that will be placed on the school board’s website www.ccstn.net .

Anyone wishing to apply for the position may access an application on this website and review requirements for the position as well as a detailed job description.

Job qualifications for the director of schools position are as follows;
A professional educator’s license,
A masters degree in education with a preference for a doctorate degree,
Three years of successful experience in school administration,
Other qualifications as the board deems desirable.

Applications and resumes may also be mailed to the central office, attention to board chairperson Randy Gannon. Contact numbers for the board chairperson and email address will also be posted on the school website so that any interested persons who have questions regarding qualifications or job descriptions may have their questions addressed. May 15th at 4:00 pm will be the deadline for all applications to be recieved. The board plans to fill the position by July 1st, 2009.

Dr. Diden will contact the Tennessee School Board Association regarding advertising the position and will also contact Randell Bennett, T S B A member to see if he would be available to meet with board to answer any questions they have reguarding the interview process for candidates. Any decision regarding salary to be offered will also be discussed during the May workshop.
