School Board Meets For November

The salary negotiation process for Cannon County teachers is officially underway for the next school year. At Thursday night’s school board meeting, a letter from the Cannon County Education Association was introduced. The letter stated the association’s intent to negotiate a contract for the 2009-2010 school year.

During its regular monthly meeting, the Board also voted to claim 300 outdated computers as surplus. These computers are no longer in use by the school system. There was discussion on whether a non-profit group might be able to use the machines. A panel will be established to review criteria on the future distribution of the computers.

In other business, the board reviewed and approved the policy packet. They also voted to delay any decision regarding security fencing for the agriculture building at the high school until spring of 2009. They also approved several overnight field trips and an out of country field trip to Costa Rica. And Cannon County High School Principal Kim Parsley presented the board with the high school handbook so they could become familiar with courses offered and staff members.

The board approved a motion to change their meeting set for March 14, 2009 to either March 5th or March 10th. A decision will be made at the next board meeting, giving board members time to decide which date will be best.

Finally, the announcement of the next meeting was made. It will take place on December 11th at Woodbury Grammar School, at 6:00pm
