The Cannon County Historical Society announces its next meeting will be on Tuesday September 13th at 6:30 PM at the Cannon County Senior Center 309 Lehman Street in the small dining area.
The subject of the meeting will be “The Life and Career of Sheriff Pharis M. Conley” The speaker will be the granddaughter of Conley, Lu Ann Curlee.
Sheriff Conley served three terms as Cannon County Sheriff from 1948-1954. He also served as an ABC agent from 1954 and was elected as General Sessions Court Judge in 1960. Sheriff Conley was nicknamed the “Green Hornet”. Refreshments will start the evening at 6:30 so bring your favorite dish. The program begins at 7:00. The program is free and open to the public.
