Three Cannon County Schools Achieve Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Distinctions

Cannon County Elementary, Cannon County Middle School, and Cannon South Elementary Schools have received the 2024-2025 Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Awards.  Cannon South Elementary received the Rising Star award, and Cannon County Elementary and Cannon County Middle School were named as National Showcase Schools® (www.ckh.org). This distinction reflects the unwavering dedication and collaborative efforts of the school’s students, staff, and community. The recognition of a Capturing Kids’ Hearts National Showcase Schools® award is a testament to the campus community’s commitment to fostering a positive and nurturing learning environment.

The selection process for National Showcase Schools is rigorous and conducted annually. It involves evaluating essential performance indicators, collecting campus data, and seeking feedback from staff and students. As reflected in the outcomes, the successful integration of the Capturing Kids’ Hearts® Process at these schools is a testament to each school’s unique culture and climate. This recognition is a testament to the educators at both schools, who go above and beyond to foster a secure, connected, and enthusiastic learning environment for their students.

Bonnie Patterson, Director of Cannon County Schools, states, “We are so proud of Cannon South receiving the Rising Star award and Cannon County Elementary and Middle School’s selection as a National Showcase School.  Capturing Kids’ Hearts is a program based on building positive relationships that transform into student success.  I want to thank Angela Cossey, principal of Cannon South Elementary School, Emily Layne, principal of Cannon County Elementary School, and Dr. Annie Reed, principal of Cannon County Middle School, and their entire team for their work in ensuring the program’s success and for implementing this program with fidelity to their students.
