Weekend Will See End of Local Veterans Day Activities for 2009

Activities over the weekend will see the remainder of Veterans Day celebrations across Cannon County. Saturday at 11:00am, the names from the war memorial on the courthouse lawn will be read. The Veterans Day parade will occur at 1:00pm. The traditional route will begin in the Edgefield area and continue on Main thru downtown.

If you are unable to attend the parade, WBRY am 1540, fm 96.7 will have the broadcast.

Honorary Grand Marshals for the parade are the Cannon County Veterans serving today in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Grand Marshals are Ray and Gene Lefevers. Service Grand Marshals, Army-Dan Bowling, Navy-Joe Rogers, Marines-Joe Patterson, Air Force-Charlie Harrell, Coast Guard-J.C. Neely, Concerned Citizen-Nolan Northcutt and POW-Louie M. Hollis.

Several churches across the county are planning on special services on Veterans this weekend.
